A Message from Msgr FitzGerald

Msgr. John FitzGerald, head of the Apostleship of the Sea for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, poses in the supply room Jan. 10. (CNS photo/Bob Roller)

Brothers,

Still recovering from stroke and a case of pneumonia, so this will be the first Memorial Day in 48 years that I have been unable to join any public celebration of the sacrifices of our fallen heroes whom I served for 30 years active duty with our Navy and Marine Corps after which I have visited many times our VA Hospitals. I’ll watch on TV.

Let us not forget their spouses, children, parents, and brothers and sisters who now celebrate our Christmas and other holidays with an empty chair at their holiday tables.

How high in Heaven are the clouds where they rest in their well earned victory of death and sin! And thanks tor the Knights of Columbus in carrying on their memories for our and future generations

Thank you and Vivat Jesu!

Msgr FitzGerald
